While Annie Hall’s influence on fashion can’t be denied, Diane Keaton’s real-life red carpet blunders can look clownish on you. To keep a menswear-inspired ensemble feminine, soften the edges with rolled cuffs or a silky blouse in a soft pink hue; accessorize with a bold piece of jewelry and tough, sexy heels.

From Balenciaga to BCBG, shoulder pads are making a comeback. But don’t start reaching for those detachable Velcro pads just yet: today’s silhouette is much sleeker.  Opt for a structured jacket nipped at the waist paired with a flattering pencil skirt or a belted, suit-inspired frock like the one seen here.

Urkel’s pants hiked up to his chest by trademark suspenders are hardly in the vicinity of chic, but the high-waisted trouser is a must-have autumn item.  Cut and material are key in pulling off this trend.  Look for a pair in luxurious wool that hits just above your natural waist.  Wear them with a loose blouse and sky-high heels.

 

 

WILD THINGS

 

Instead of a skin-tight safari-themed number that leaves little to the imagination, go for a sophisticated piece like a knee-grazing silk dress rendered in an unexpected animal print.  Key to translate this trend: accessories, like a spotted scarf or zebra-striped shoes, paired with more subdued piece.
