Susanna Negovan is editor in chief of Michigan Avenue magazine, where she is charged with celebrating the best the city of Chicago has to offer -- from high-profile people to parties, from fine dining to celebrity dish. The magazine debuted on Sept. 15 and is part of Niche Media, the same family of high-style publications that includes Ocean Drive, Gotham and L.A. Confidential. For nearly eight years, Susanna penned the column "Susanna‚s Night Out" in the Chicago Sun-Times, and she is frequently featured on television  as a trend and style expert. For more than two years, she hosted her own talk radio show on WCKG-FM. Susanna is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. On November 8, she celebrated her ultimate night out: getting married to WGN-TV's Tom Negovan.

My favorites...

Scent:

L'Instant by Guerlain. My personal trainer once told me, "Every girl should smell like you."

Eye cream:

I really love the Eye Lightening Serum by Dr. Memar, a local plastic surgeon. $79. 50 W. Washington.

Mascara:

Blinc Kiss Me Mascara, $24, which gives the effect of fake eyelashes.

Concealer:

Amazing Cosmetics, $42, because it has a really high concentration of pigment.

Moisturizer:

I've tried them all, and the product line that works best on me is Kate Somerville. I use the Quench Hydrating Serum, $60, followed by Nourish Daily Moisture, $65. But her best product is an exfoliator called ExfoliKate, which brightens your skin in about 60 seconds.

Body Lotion:

Sugar Lychee by Fresh, $28.

What lip gloss are you addicted to this month?

Right now, it's a custom shade of pale pink made at Colorlab, 857 W. Armitage.

I feel prettiest when...

I wake up in the morning with my husband. We always spend about 20 minutes canoodling before we start our day.

If I were a magazine, I would be...

Michigan Avenue!

I am always searching for...

eye shadow palettes. They're like toys for grown-up girls.

My favorite place to shop is...

do I have to pick just one?!

The best beauty tip I ever received was...

My favorite nail polish combo: one layer of Essie Sugar Daddy, one layer of Essie Waltz. It's the perfect pinky-white – trust me!

My favorite beauty product from my past was...

My first foundation was by Clinique. Just recently tried it again and remembered why I loved it so much.

My most embarrassing beauty moment was...

Piling on the teal eyeliner in 7th grade.

The first thing I do when I wake up is...

kiss my husband.

The last thing I do before I go to bed is...

kiss my husband.

I could never live without...

my hair straightener, GHD at Sephora, $240.

I will splurge on...

just about everything once to see if it's worth it.

I won’t spend more than $10 on…

hairspray.

If I wasn't a magazine editor, I would be...

Favorite fashion trend of all time is...

platform heels! (I'm 5-foot-3.)
