As owner of two Roscoe Village boutiques, maternity shop Kickin’ and footwear phenom A Pied, Trudy Robinson Foley helps the women of the neighborhood bring their sartorial A-game—and her experience as a former fashion and fitness magazine executive combined with her love of all things French makes Robinson Foley an expert in chic, flattering, fashion-forward goods for gals. But while the way to the heart of many fashion mavens is through their closet, all Robinson Foley really wants is the perfect scone topped with clotted cream and lemon curd.

Trudy's favorites…

Scent:

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne …so fresh and clean and not too sweet.

Body Lotion:

Aveda Replenishing Body Moisturizer.  I am addicted…no other will do!

Moisturizer:

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion . My mother uses it, my grandma uses it (and has for many of her 98 years).  Her skin is still beautiful!

Which lip gloss are you addicted to this month?

Clinique Blackberry Bloom

I feel prettiest when…

After an active day on the beach!  It’s sunset… I have a little dress on - the salt water has given my hair a bit of body - and I have a bit of a glow in my cheeks from the heat, my muscles are tired, and I have a little tan.  I know, it sounds unhealthy to my hair and skin, but it’s true.

I am always searching for...

Great scones and clotted cream & lemon curd, especially when in London. I’d eat them almost everyday if I could.

The last thing I do before I go to bed is…

kiss my sweetie goodnight!

My favorite place to shop is…

kickin’ for maternity clothes, à pied for shoes of course.  Also, Cinnamon boutique when I am not pregnant – all on Roscoe St. in Roscoe Village.

I could never live without…

Our annual honeymoon.  My husband, Matt and I made a commitment to do this 13 years ago, and so far we haven’t missed one. We’ve seen Argentina, Croatia, Thailand and many other great countries.  Last year was Spain.

If I wasn’t a…Boutique owner

I would be a…I’d be a travel writer and French professor.

Someone should have called the fashion police when…

When I wore Sally Jessy Rafael big red glasses back in the late 80s.

What’s for breakfast?

Almond Croissant and half calf one shot mocha from Julius Meinl.

Favorite restaurant...

Le Bouchon on Damen. It takes me back to France…great prices, and they know me and take care of me.   Can’t wait to celebrate with a glass or two of Chateauneuf du Pape after the baby arrives!

Going green?

Trying…my stores carry green products when possible, like organic baby clothes and maternity active wear made from bamboo.  One of the new shoe lines at a pied uses recycled rubber in their soles – and other parts.    I’m lathering up with Erbaviva Organic Stretch Mark Cream on my Belly (and everywhere!)  It’s awesome.  I’ll use their baby skin products as well as soon as the little one arrives.  I pretty much only shop at Whole Foods…and try to make organic choices where possible and support restaurants that use local produce.  However, I am still amazed at how much trash I throw out…baby steps.

Favorite sinful food?

Chocolate.  Really good chocolate, truffles etc…

My favorite spa treatment is…

A Deep Tissue Massage.  Best at…Urban Oasis. I love the steam shower private room afterwards.
